J. G. was born in Coleman on July 17, 1931 to Albert Goodwin and Thelma Scott Goodwin.   J.G. spent most of his childhood in the White Chapel community and the City of Coleman - where he graduated from Coleman High School in 1948.  J. G. told us many stories about growing up in Coleman – about hunting at Hords Creek, playing football and running track for Coleman High School, his extended family in and around Coleman – the Goodwins and the Scotts, and generally what life was like back then.
