Dorothy Marie Stoup Chastain, 84, of Decatur, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

She was born Dorothy Marie Stoup on December 12, 1925 in Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of the late Edward Darwin Stoup and Nova Lou Scoggin Stoup. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from high school in Coleman. On December 9, 1945 she married Roy Lee Chastain, Sr. in Abilene and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1983. Her husband owned a road construction company that built most of the roads and bridges in Texas. Dorothy was a homemaker, mother and wife and she loved to play slot machines. She was also a Historian for the Denton County Museum and was Baptist.

Survivors include five children, Roy Lee Chastain, Jr. of Decauter, Nora Marie "Sissy" Chastain of Justin, James Marcus "Jim" Chastain and wife Cindy of Justin, Eve Lynn Chastain of Justin, Joe Ed Chastain and wife Paulla of Royse City; two brothers, Alvie Stoup and William Stoup both of Coleman; two sisters, Margaret Wilson of Clyde and Peggy Jacobi of Ft. Worth.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.
