Elizabeth Roy, 78, of Coleman, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center with Rick Marshall officiating. Her body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan, Coleman, Texas.
Elizabeth Roy was born September 8, 1931 in Anson, Jones County, Texas, a daughter of Thomas Knox Campbell and Grace Pearce Campbell. She grew up in Talpa and graduated from high school there in 1947. She later graduated from Hardin-Simmons in Abilene. In 1957 she married A. D. Roy in Dallas and he preceded her in death in 1986. She lived in many places, including Fort Worth, Hurst and Dallas. Mrs. Roy was an elementary school teacher in special eduction with the Fort Worth ISD. She moved to Coleman in 2006 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman.
Survivors include one son, Russell David Roy and wife Tina of McKinney; one daughter, Kathryn Grace Roy of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Allen David Roy, Robert Andrew Roy, Zelda Oma Roy, Vivian Grace Roy; one great-grandson, Wyatt Lucas Hardee; one brother, Thomas Allen Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Knoxine Clack of Odessa.
