Evelyn McCabe, 88, of Refugio and former Coleman County resident, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at her residence. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Evelyn McCabe was born March 24, 1921 in Grosvenor, Brown County, Texas, the daughter of Ralph Tracey Barnes and Ida Bowles Barnes. She grew in and attended school in Brown County. She married J.C. McCabe on May 10, 1946 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2004. She moved to Refugio in 2001, after living in San Angelo for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, C.D. and Carolyn McCabe of Woodsboro, Jimmy and Leslie McCabe of Coppell; three grandchildren, Matthew McCabe of Coppell, Michael McCabe of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Robbie McCabe of Kerrville; four great-grandchildren, Laurel, Collin, Marcus and Shay and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the funeral home.
